I’m Lisa, the founder of Pawoohoo.
First of all, I’m honored that you noticed our young handmade custom pet brand. We were founded in February 2024 and have already earned the trust of 500 pet owners. This is the story of a group of artists determined to keep the art of handmade customization alive—not using AI, but relying on our eyes, hands, and artistic experience.
When AI Took Over
For years, I hand-painted pet portraits, connecting with pet owners who truly valued handmade art. Then AI arrived—fast and disruptive.
With just a few clicks, AI-generated pet portraits were everywhere—royal-style, cartoon versions, polished and cheap. At first, I thought, Handmade art will always have a place. But I was wrong.
Suddenly, the market was flooded with AI art. I panicked—was there still room for real craftsmanship?
Artists in Crisis
I wasn’t alone. Other artists felt the same uncertainty.
Instead of giving up, we doubled down on what makes handmade special—real craftsmanship, real stories, real connection.
We needed more than just commissions—we needed a brand, a platform where handmade art could stand apart. And so, Pawoohoo was born.
The First Creative Spark: Painting on Glass
One day, while painting a dog portrait, I noticed sunlight streaming through a glass suncatcher, scattering colors across my desk. What if a pet portrait could capture light the same way?
So, I experimented with painting on glass. It was a disaster—slippery, messy, unpredictable. But after countless failed attempts, I finally completed my first glass pet portrait. The dog’s eyes shimmered with a lifelike depth, as if it had a soul. I shared it with friends, and their reaction was unanimous: This is something special. And just like that, our first signature piece was born.
