The Rainbow Bridge: A Promise of Reunion

"Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge..."

When you lose a best friend, the world turns grey. The house feels too large, the silence too loud. In these moments, we turn to the legend of the Rainbow Bridge—a story not of endings, but of a beautiful "until we meet again."

The Poem

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.

Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet passes away, they go to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who were sick or hurt are made whole and strong, just as we remember them in our dreams.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent. The eager body quivers. Suddenly this one begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

A Note for Your Journey

The "Bridge" is more than just a story; it is a way to breathe when the grief feels like it’s suffocating you.

We believe that the bond you shared is a cord that can never be cut. While your friend waits in those sun-drenched meadows, you are left here to carry their light.

At Pawoohoo, we create our pet statues and portraits to be "Keepers of the Wait." We hope that when you look at your pet’s likeness, you don’t just see what you lost—you see the vibrant, healthy, and happy soul that is currently running through the tall grass, occasionally stopping to sniff the wind, waiting for the day they see you crest the hill.

You are not alone in your wait. May this poem bring a small ray of sunshine to your quiet house today.
